Hi all! It’s Random mid-week! Welcome and make yourselves to home. We’re very informal here.
Since it’s Random Wendesday. Aw, you know. We’ll be entirely random. K???????
I am still knitting on the edging of the PurplePi. I gotta tell you this is a bunches of stitches on the needles. I am determined to finish this shawl. It’s pretty, but I lost interest and I finally figured out why. It’s superwash. I knew that going in. It’s not a surprise, but I don’t think I’ll be able to block it out much. Still, I don’t know why that made me hesitate. I do know this baby is going to be finished. It’s just not going quite as quickly as I had hoped. It takes me about four hours to finish a row. I’m still not losing focus. And, since you all know me, wish me luck;-)
I did take a picture of it, but it looks pretty much the same as it did the last time I took a picture.

The color is washed out (my apologies, once again), but it shows the edging which doesn’t really show yet. I have increased the stitch count by 50% on the first row and another 50% on the third row. We’ll see if I need to increase much more from there. I’m hoping for an undulating lacey, but not real lacey edging. It’s alot of stitches for an experiment, but that’s knitting isn’t it? Even when I follow a pattern, there is always a bit of the unknown. Either my interpretation or my inability or lack of desire to follow a pattern. It all makes for an experiment. I think that even when I follow the pattern to the letter (at least I think I did), it’s never a sure thing, is it?
And, since it’s Random Wednesday and I haven’t been all that random, here’s the soundtrack for the day.
The Byrds from “Easy Rider”………”I Wasn’t Born to Follow”
Have a good one!!!
I love your determination in finishing your PurplePi shawl
I can see some of the edging and from what I can see, it’s lookin pretty good!
I had to stop my knitting last night in frustration because A. – I realized I used the wrong size needle and B. – I’m missing 2 stitches in a row where I’m supposed to be increasing… so now I have to rip back and figure out what the hell I did
Grrr!
Easy Rider takes me back! You’ll finish and you’ll be glad you did and it will be gorgeous!
Isn’t that what makes knitting fun? The pattern that is open to interpretation, no matter how hard the pattern writer tries to make it perfectly clear.
The PurplePi is looking gorgeous and huh? I’ve blocked out superwash wool before… it blocks out. Am I crazy? No, well, ok, yes, I’m crazy but superwash blocks out just fine. I know. Am I gonna have to come over there and show you? :^)
Purple Pi is coming along nicely! I enjoy your blog – you’ve received a blog award – check out Joyknits! to learn more.
I’m with Marianne – I think superwash blocks out just fine. My Cozy was superwash and it blocked wonderfully – no worries!
I love that purple color. Knit on!
