I finished Frannie’s b’day present on Saturday and washed it and put it to dry and on Sunday morning when I was going to give it to her, it was still quite wet. So….she’ll have to wait until Wednesday. Besides, I didn’t have any pix of it. I’m learning.

Tada! It is the Malabrigo worsted in a purple, mustardy/gold, and black. I really like it. I made up my own pattern (probably not, but I didn’t look at anybody else’s). I started with 96 stitches on size 8 needles. It was knit in the round and the first two rows were purled and then stockinette. I marked every 16 stitches and purled one on either side of the marker. Then, every tenth row I did a row of opposites (purl and knit two). I knit forever and finally decided it was big enough and finished with two purl rows and bound off. It is soft as can be and I’m sure she’ll love it. If not, I do and I’ll just take it back;–) There wasn’t enough yarn left to knit two more rows, so I’m quite pleased.
I sure hope your weekend went well. Mine was fine. I think this economy thing is beginning to affect my normally good nature. Going to work has become difficult. There is so much tension and so little to do that it is depressing and I’m running out of work and that makes me crabby and anxious. Ya know? So, I’ll just try to find a good place to be mentally and go with the flow. As a Type A personality that is rather difficult, but I’ll work on it.
So, the spinning? I had too much on the bobbins to start my birthday fiber and my camera batteries are weak (no flash) so I can’t show you what I do have. So, I’m working on the other stuff on my wheel and then I can start my birthday roving. It has gotten me back to spinning;-)
I heard this last week on our community radio station KDHX. It’s the Blues Magoos “We Ain’t Done Nothin’ Yet”. They were a darned good band.
Have a good one!!!
The cowl is so much fun in that colorway. You did a good job of designing. I’ve been spending time with my wheel lately and enjoying it, too. Blue Magoos!? I remember the song but not the band.
You weren’t kidding when you said it wasn’t subtle, but the colors are definitely in season! I’ve been thinking cowl for the single skein of Jitterbug I picked up recently …
Oh, how fun and cheerful! Malabrigo is perfect for gifts, too – so soft!
Oooh, soft and purdy Malabrigo – it looks beautiful!
The first two months of the year are on the slow side where I work, but I still get a little paranoid.
When they’re cutting costs to the point of saying no ordering of office supplies for the rest of the month (including coffee!!!!), then I know the outlook for this month at the least is looking pretty grim.
But enough about this depressing stuff. Let’s try to keep our chin up and get through the week, shall we?
Hey, I remember those guys!
Fabulous cowl, it’s like a pansy coloured cowl! mmm, and so soft.
Keep your chin up and always remember your ‘happy’ place :^)
I have the same problem (?!?) when it comes to getting new fibre, not nearly enough bobbins! I know that some people wind their singles on their ballwinders, I did that once, not a pretty sight.
I finally went to spinning guild on Saturday and did some spinning, it had been since November. Mustn’t let that happen again.
Happy Monday!
