It’s the little things that make life worth living isn’t it? Friday and a pitcher of Margueritas. How’s about we meet in Lincoln, NE(I’m thinking centrally located)? What say, fiveish? Another week has flown by. Not a momentous week, but a good one. All except for losing my crown. A dentist’s chair is in my Friday future. I’m the original dental weiny. I have to take half a Xanax to get my teeth cleaned. I’m always sure that he’ll have to yank four or five teeth whenever I go. I know. Lame. I’ve learned to accept my lameness. Not embrace it, but accept it.
I’m still knitting away on the Corrugator scarf. Little by little it is growing. I will take a picture when it is a few inches taller. I’m hoping for a growth spurt this weekend.

This is my only Wave petunia and it’s from last year. It is growing in a pot that held a plant that died last fall. I just love the serendipity of gardening. And, I love Wave petunias. Now, I need you to indulge me(once again). My Mom planted a quince bush about 30 years ago. It had never borne fruit……until this year.
The squirrels decimated the other fruit. I didn’t even notice it until about 2 weeks after my Mom died. She would have been thrilled. I call this a classic poignant moment. I have absolutely no idea what to do with it and I only have these two left. I think I need to bone up on quince fruit and its uses and growth. Maybe next year I’ll be able to make something like jam or jelly with it. That, too, would thrill my Mom.
So, are you planning on taking advantage of this weekend? We are seriously running out of summer. The days are getting shorter. I mean it now. I walk in the early morning dawn hours now. Just a couple of weeks ago, the sun was up and at ‘em when the boy and I went out. You will be so sorry if you don’t get your Vitamin D now. Alright already. Enough nagging;-D
I leave you on this Friday moseying into another weekend with the Kinks. Ray Davies and the gang performing their mega-hit “You Really Got Me”.
HAVE A GOOD ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
5ish, right? well, ok then!
Our one and nearly only local(ish) fibre festival today and tomorrow, of which I’ll only get to attend today :^( but yay for today!
Your Wave is mighty bright and cheerful.
I nearly wept about the quince, sweet tears. The flowering quince are one of my all time favourites, those lovely coral blossoms, just the perfect colour (ok, one of the perfects). Yep, you’ve some research ahead of you… go ahead, tickle your mum :^) xoxox
hey, where’s Margene? She always gets here before me… wake up, Margene :^)
I’m so there for the margaritas (even though I only just woke up hehehe)
How interesting that the quince bush never borne fruit until this year. I don’t think I’ve ever had one, so yes, you must do research and come up with something. I’ve heard of quince jam (i’ve got jamming in my head, as I’ll be making some blueberry jam over the weekend) – but I guess you’d need more than 2 to do that eh? From doing a little web searching, maybe you can make a pie or tart and combine them with some apples or pears? Now I want to try a quince!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Good morning! I’m right with you on the dentist visits. That stinks that you lost a crown. I’ve never seen a quince before. Are they solid? Do they have pits or small seeds? Are they ripe? Obviously you’ll get no advice on how to use them from me. I just put some contest links over on my blog so head over and sign up to win yarn and other goodies. Hugs to you!
Look at you and all of your camera action- poignant indeed. I prefer to believe that after she passed she went and had a strong talkin’-to with Mother Nature and said, “There Will Be Quinces.”
Dentist? Ha! One whole xanax and the gas for a cleaning for me. I happily pay the $90 extra that insurance doesn’t cover. I believe that the sound and smell of all things dental would make my head explode.
You’re still the Queen in spite of a missing crown.
How about meeting in central Wisconsin – I’m already there
Margaritas sound good!
Pretty petunia – with just 2 quince, can you poach them?
Good luck with the dental appointment!
You know Ray Davies has a new solo album? It’s not bad. It’s very clear even at the end of the day the light is shorter. I’ve heard of quince jelly but not sure what else you can do with the fruit. Talk about lame…I spent our holiday away from the computer. I missed your Friday post but didn’t need it as I not only slept in, I lazed away the day. it was heaven.
