Random Wednesday and I was in court on Tuesday

I tell you all, the excitement never ends here in Middle Earth. I went to work on Monday and my boss told me I was going to court to represent the company on Tuesday morning. I had to be there at 8:30 a.m. The time was not a big deal. The court thing was. I was just a “corporate support lump on a log”, but I was still nervous. Parking near the courthouse is a bloody nightmare and, verily, I worried myself sick about it.  That, plus being able to knit while I waited (knowing full well I would be there so early the courthouse might not even be open yet).  Well, I was a mess.  I walked the pup on Tuesday morning, about 5:30 a.m., as usual and then got ready to leave the house at 7:15 a.m.   I drive 35 miles one way to work and only alot about 40 minutes for the trip, but I left an hour and 15 minutes early to go 15 minutes and less than 10 miles from my own home to go to court.  All this because of parking.   In Clayton, Missouri, there are over 1000 parking meters with 2 hour limits, 6 parking meters with 15 minute limits and 8 parking meters with 10 hour limits.   I figured I would get a ticket if I went over the two hour limit, because all I could see were 2 hour meters.  I will need to go by on a weekend (my church is about 2 minutes from Clayton) and scope out the garages because this was just a “finding”.   Next, we will go for a “hearing” in April and then a “trial” in June.  I will admit I am anal, but the legal system in this country is totally anal.  So, I showed up at the courthouse and went through an amazing defense system that included a metal detector.  I put my keys in a basket just like the guy in front of me and then put my purse on the belt.  I had removed my little Buddy from my purse because it contains a pair of tiny little scissors that could possibly cut you a tad, and I didn’t want them searching my purse and finding my bamboo dpns that would break upon impact, fearing they would take them away.  I might have forgotten to mention I’m a bit paranoid, too.   Anyway, after that, we all marched up about 4 flights of steps (no biggy) because the escalators are broken and have been since December.  They had just gotten the elevators fixed when the escalators broke.  Gotta love this world.   I sat on a big ole bench outside the courtroom and knit my sock until our attorney showed up.  He gave me a hug and I hugged him back because he is my attorney as well.  Plus, he’s such a cool guy.  He came in wearing a gorgeous gray suit and brown shoes.  How can you not adore a lawyer that dresses that way?  So, he kinda explained in lawyer-talk what was gonna happen, and of course, it didn’t go that way at all.  I was there to impress the judge with our corporate interest in the case.  How could we not be interested?  The sucker owes a a ton of money.  Well.  I sat there looking interested and the two attorneys walked back into a hallway to the judge’s chambers.   Five minutes later, the attorneys came out and our attorney and I walked out of the courtroom.   He updated me on the hearing and trial and ran off to another finding or lawyer thingy.

I found my way out and got to my car with 65 minutes left on my 2 hours and thought “huh”.

So, since I had all this excitement I wanted to share with you, I didn’t show you the yarns that my BSIL and I bought to knit the Olympic Reindeer hats.  They are different, yet the same.  So, we’ll do that on Friday.  K?

Now,  since I really like these guys, we are going to do the HumpDaySoundtrack with the Zombies.  Again.  This is a scratchy version of a song I adore, but it was the only verson by them that I could find.   “Time of the Season”

Happy Wednesday all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That’s quite a workday. At least it was different than being in the office all day. I hope the hearing went your way. Love this song and rarely hear it. Thanks!!

    **what’s your name? Who’s your Daddy”……;-)

What a day! We’ve done the parking-in-Clayton dance a time or 2 – it’s a real mess. Have a great rest of the week!

What a day you had! and I’m right there with you on all counts of idiotic (the parking, the meters, the hoops you have to jump through).
I’ll have that song in my head all day (and most likely all night) and I thank you. I do. Honestly. :^D
    Happy Woden’s Day! xox

Wow, sounds like quite a day! I hope it all works the way it should. You’re so lucky you get to knit there. Our courthouse has a large sign that says “Absolutely NO knitting or crochet needles allowed”. Whatever.

Parking there sounds like a nightmare, so I can see with everything else going on in the day, it can be pretty nerve wracking.

I bought the Olympic Reindeer hat yarn too! My sister saw the hat I made for Bear’s daughter (the Koolhaas) and said I never knit hats for her and so I asked her what she wanted and she replied she wanted the Olympic Reindeer hat. *gulp* But can I do it???

    Happy Hump day!

Seems to me that a parking space should be provided with any type of court appearance.

Also. Thank you for the use of the word “verily.”

Thank goodness it was a quick trip to the court house and not one of those never ending visits.
