Unscientific. Really? On this blog????

I have an unscientific way of knowing when summer is ending, and it has nothing to do with schools or vacations or anything logical. My toes get cold. Seriously. I wear sandals all summer long. When my toes get cold in the a/c no matter how hot it is outside, then I know summer is coming to a close. I know. I’m weird. I’ve known that, like, forever.  Still.  It works.  It happens suddenly and I never can remember from year to year when it starts, but I have had my initial warning shot across the bow that summer is waning.  Now, keeping this in mind, we are supposed to hit 100 again this week, so it seems summer may be waning, but she still has a punch or two left in her.

I was thinking about my wonderful time in Chicago and realized that I couldn’t even remember where we ate dinner on Friday night.  Personally, I think that’s sad.  It’s also a testament to how we just kept going and having fun.  I also have thought a great deal about how much I needed it.   I came home rejuvenated and ready to go back to work, at home and the office.  That, my friends, is a good vacation.

So, I’m knitting.  I’m still working on my vest, but it’s kinda heavy and bulky and hot.  I still pick it up and knit a row or two, but the heat (cold toes and all) makes it less than appealing.  Progress has slowed, a bit.  I will get a picture when I can find my camera.  I sorta misplaced it, the camera, after the vacation.  I know I had it when I came home because I downloaded the sculpture I showed you all.  After that, I have no idea where I put it.  I don’t even have anyone else to blame when stuff gets misplaced.  I’ve tried Grover, but he is totally uncooperative.  He just wags his tail.

I leave you with the Supremes again.  I’m on a soul kick lately, and I haven’t ever really put the Supremes on my blog.  I know I got a bit sick of the Diana Ross diva thing, but she is a very very talented lady and the group was terrific.  Here they are from 1964 (damn) with “Baby Love”

Have a great Monday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!*

*This was the tax free weekend here in Middle Earth, so I have stocked up on punctuation marks and am ready to go until January.  I have learned to stock up!!!!!!

Hey! Don’t hog the punctuation marks! Leave me a couple!!

OK, this is just weird. My feet were freezing yesterday and it was 99 out and the a/c couldn’t keep up with it in the house. I sat out on the deck to warm up my feet.

Too bad you can’t call your camera and have it ring like I do when I misplace my cell phone. I once found it amongst the mittens in the hall closet.

I know that toe thing . Mine doesn’t predict anything- they were cold inJuly- but I know hat you mean.

Rejuvenated. That’s what I need. Good word.

Heh, the cold toes.. same here and it always seems to happen a couple of weeks past Summer Solstice. but then it might also be due to His obsession with the climate control. hmmm.
Never fear, remember, I have plenty of punctuation marks to spare here, that goes for you too, Diane :^)
    Stay cool XOX

That is weird because my toes are cold in the a/c all summer long. I can feel fall in the air, but it’s been on the cool side this week so that’s a natural assumption. The key is to enjoy every day of Aug, Sept and Oct…the best days of the year!

Well how about that. I spent hours last night shivering under the blanket and feeling cold down to my bones despite it being 80 degrees indoors and out. I finally got up and cast on for some winter woolens until my brain accepted that I wasn’t going to freeze this winter. This morning I went out in the steam and there was definitely an undercurrent of fall. Bodies are weird. 🙂

We had that fabulous pizza and beer and wine and conversation at Renaldi’s on Broadway just north of Diversey.

Wow, that must have really been a great time if you can’t remember where you ate! So glad you got out. We’ve not had much of a summer out here. I think EM is responsible. Cats can be devious that way.

I think we only remember the truly dreadful and totally fabulous meals. Everything else ends up being a bit of a blur.

You must’ve enjoyed a few extra glasses of wine when you had dinner and just had a blast 😉 You know it’s a great vacation when you come back refreshed and not remembering what you had for dinner and where, hee hee!

We had a pretty cold-ish weekend w/ some much-needed rain and now is scheduled to climb back up towards end of the week. I’m wanting more sun for my tomato plant, as it might be the first time we can consider having a “harvest” from our deck 🙂
