I am now channeling my mother

Saturday afternoon when I finally got home from running my numerous errands, I was in the kitchen drinking hot cocoa with coffee (it’s cold here in Middle Earth) and saw Grover chasing a squirrel (if he were smaller and more maneuverable he would catch it) and the squirrel ran up the back privacy fence. Grover ran up to the fence and hit it with his front paws with all the force of a runaway train. It broke. I was stunned, but went right out on the deck and asked in my very best “MOM” voice, “What were you thinking?”. When I realized what I had said I laughed and laughed and laughed.  He just stood there and looked at me in his best “oh, you’ve lost your mind again” look.  My Mom would use the phrase “What were you thinking?” whenever we did something intensely stupid (which was quite often).   So, after I had my laugh, I went down to check and make sure he wasn’t hurt.  He wasn’t.  I realized that I’ve had him for almost 3 years now and this is the first damage he’s wrought.

Now.  Knitting. I haven’t been knitting much.  My shoulder has hurt me quite a bit and I can only do a pattern on the mitts I’m knitting, then it has to be put down for a while.  Progress is slow and I’ve been a bit bummed by it.   But, yesterday I wore enough clothing (did I mention it’s cold here?) so my shoulder wasn’t cold and it didn’t hurt.  I’m not sure what that means, but if being warm keeps it from aching, then I’ll keep my shoulders warm.

And, in case you hadn’t heard, it’s cold here in Middle Earth.  This is the closest I’m getting to having hostas rights now.

And, because we always need a soundtrack for our days, here are  CSN with “Long Time Gone”.  Testament to the clarity of David Crosby’s voice.

Have a good one!!!!!!!!!!!!

One of my favorite songs! It seems we always turn into our mothers. At the very least we never stop hearing our mothers in our heads. It’s gray here. We had two hours of sun yesterday and we’re praying for improving conditions today.

Becoming our parents is our destiny. Hope you keep warm and that your shoulder stops hurting. Grover is an awesome pup.

Whodda thunk I’d have my own fabric stash and sneaking in more like my mom? LOL Dad had a good laugh about that when I told him about that 🙂

Glad your shoulders better, but hope it heals soon so you can get to knittin!

  4. I think we all channel our mothers, eventually. I channel both grandmothers from time to time too 🙂

Definitely keep your shoulders warm! I’ve found it has made a *huge* difference to my shoulders and neck to keep them wrapped up in the winter – even indoors. I scoffed at the woman who suggested it to me in July when I hair half way down my back. I couldn’t see how my neck was getting chilled in the summer and with long hair, but it really made a difference.

At least, he didn’t hang his head in shame.

It’s so cold there that it’s snowing on your blog. ;^)

    xo

With a heavy accent on the “were” no doubt 😉 I can just imagine it! I’m sure warmth will help ease it, but do take care!

Ah..now if that were the only damage Tucker had ever done! 🙂 Maybe I should have tried that tone on him when he disabled the 4 wheel drive on the truck….twice in one week. hehehehehe. Gotta love our pups. I don’t think they realize how large they are. 😉 If the warmth thing helps, then it can’t be a bad thing. Hope the shoulder heals up quickly!
